Cancer Survivors Day to feature paintings by Mobile-area survivors

In conjunction with National Cancer Survivors Day, June 5, USA Mitchell Cancer Institute will hold a special celebration featuring paintings by local survivors.

Survivors Day logo.jpgThe event is set from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, at the Alabama Cruise Terminal. It is sponsored by USA Mitchell Cancer institute. The event is free and open to all cancer survivors, regardless of the state of their disease or where they received treatment.

The artwork will be created by children and adult cancer survivors in May during painting sessions with Fairhope artist B’Beth Weldon. The Survivors Day will conclude with an invitation for all survivors to join in a balloon launch to celebrate their strength and perseverance.

Those wishing to attend should RSVP by June 1 to Vanessa McMillian at vmcmillian@health.southalabama.edu.
